Kassim Mohammed, 32, died after he was shot in Watery Street, Sheffield, and a tribute has now been paid by his family who said he was a "devoted young father"
A young dad shot dead in the street has been named in a moving tribute by his heartbroken family who said he will leave a void "that will never be filled".
Kassim Mohammed, 32, died after he was shot in Watery Street in the Upperthorpe area of Sheffield on Tuesday night. It was the second of three shootings to have rocked the city over the past three days. His family have today released his photo as they described him as a "devoted" dad who had a "caring nature".
In a statement issued via South Yorkshire Police, his family said: "Kassim was a devoted young father, a loving son, and a kind, family-orientated man, whose caring nature touched everyone around him. He will leave a void in our hearts that will never be filled."
A 22-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. A police cordon remains in place in Watery Street as officers continue their investigation.
A first shooting incident happened in Pitsmoor at 2.40am on Tuesday, September 30, when bullets were fired at a house and no one was hurt.
Then more shots were fired at a house in Wensley Court at around 8.30pm on October 1. Armed officers attended the scene and while no one was injured, the house was "damaged" by the rounds of bullets.
Police are investigating to see if there is a link between all three shootings. In a statement issued tonight, a spokesperson said the force need witnesses and anyone with information to come forward.
Of the investigation into Kassim's killing, they said: "A 22-year-old man remains in custody after being arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with Kassim's death. A small scene remains in place in Watery Street as officers continue their work and there will continue to be an increased police presence in the vicinity.
