Donald Trump completes clean sweep of swing states in ruthless election victory

After tipping over the necessary 270 electoral college votes to win the presidency earlier this week, Donald Trump secured the last of the swing states with a win in Arizona

Donald Trump has completed a clean sweep of the election swing states and condemned Kamala Harris to a resounding defeat.

The president-elect won Arizona, the final state to be called, late on Saturday. The win brings his electoral vote count to 312, with 226 for Vice President Harris.

Trump secured the 270 votes necessary to become president-elect with the call of Wisconsin early on Wednesday morning.

With his victory in Arizona, Trump has won back all of the states Biden flipped to the Democrats’ column in 2020 – Arizona, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. He also flipped Nevada, which was called early on Saturday morning.

Immigration and border security were key issues, with Arizona boasting the fourth-largest Hispanic voting population. The Republicans have also regained control of the Senate and look likely to retain a majority in the House of Representatives.

Trump will visit Biden at the White House on Wednesday.

Such a meeting between the outgoing and incoming presidents is customary, but Trump did not invite Biden after making unsubstantiated election fraud claims that culminated in the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
