James Martin says 'look at that out there' as heavy rain causes chaos on Saturday Morning

James Martin was forced to halt his Saturday Morning show as the 'heavens opened' while he was filming in his outdoor kitchen area

James Martin was left gobsmacked during his Saturday Morning show when the 'heavens opened' whilst filming in his outdoor kitchen.

The 53 year old chef, who was shooting in the impressive outdoor cooking area, had to acknowledge the harsh weather conditions as loud rainfall disrupted the programme.

James remarked: "Just like that the heavens open..." with the cameras then showcasing the severe downpour, leading James to exclaim: "Look at that out there!"

The following part of the show seemed to be filmed indoors, where he greeted guests including singer James Morrison, Aktar Islam, Shivi Ramoutar and Daniel Clifford.

However, later on in the episode, James returned to his outdoor kitchen space for a chat with singer James, 41, reports the Express.

James Martin's Saturday Morning is pre-recorded at his stunning Hampshire kitchen, so it's probable that the weather disruption seen on Saturday's show wasn't due to Storm Amy, which is currently wreaking havoc across the UK.

This comes as Storm Amy has been causing mayhem with strong winds and heavy rain hitting large parts of the UK on Saturday.

A significant portion of the country was under weather warnings with wind gusts nearing 100mph on Friday night.

The Met Office reported that the highest recorded gust on Friday was at Tiree in the Hebrides at 96mph, while a provisional October wind gust record for Northern Ireland was set as 92mph winds were measured at Magilligan in Co Londonderry.

Scotland's north was under an amber wind warning until 9pm on Saturday, with yellow warnings blanketing all of Scotland, northern England and north Wales until the day's end. The rest of England and Wales were also cautioned with a further yellow wind warning until 7pm.

Additional yellow rain warnings are in place for north and west Scotland until midnight, and Northern Ireland until midday.

ScotRail predicted that some service disruptions could extend into Saturday, possibly even Sunday, while Network Rail conducts safety checks for obstructions on the line and any infrastructure damage. National Rail also flagged potential disruptions across the UK on Saturday.

Sunday is set to be dry and less windy with sunny spells for most areas, but there will be outbreaks of rain developing in the north west.
