In 1904 Wallace Waite, Arthur Rose and David Taylor opened a small grocery shop in West London. The business was acquired in 1937 by the John Lewis group and the first Waitrose supermarket opened in 1955. Awarded a Royal Warrant in 2009, Waitrose markets itself as an ethical brand selling quality products.
